Are you the parent or caregiver to one or more teens who are constantly challenging your authority? Are you struggling to set boundaries? This workshop will help you understand the principles of managing difficult behaviour, create agreements with your teen, and overall feel a lot more empowered and a lot less helpless.

What is the program like?

You’ll interact with the workshop coordinator and other parents to learn, share resources, exchange stories, and get support from the group. The workshop coordinator helps you gain confidence in dealing with your teen using material from the book Defiant Teen by Russell A. Barkley and Arthur L. Robin. Participants come from all walks of life. All participants are protected by our “Vegas Rule:” what’s shared in our class stays in our class.

I am the Education and Training Coordinator at MHA Dutchess. I teach numerous parenting classes on special topics which help parents and caregivers to better understand and manage behavior challenges for children and teenagers. I also coordinate staff trainings that range from community programs and resources to special topics such as Trauma Informed Care and Narcan training. I love teaching and having the opportunity to bring inspiring and enlightening information to the community and staff. I truly believe information is power.
