Are you parent or caregiver to a child with a social, emotional, or mental health diagnosis? Do you feel isolated and wish you could connect with others who know what you’re going through? Helping Others through Personal Experience is a peer-led support group that gets you feeling connected and empowered through a network of people who are ready to help.
Services:
- Group support from people who understand your situation
- Referrals to helpful services
- Support for crisis situations
- Access to one-on-one support and advocacy as needed
- Offsite support such as rides and company
What is the program like?
Groups are confidential and very low-pressure. Often there are snacks and refreshments. Everyone listens, brainstorms solutions, and networks with other parents. There’s an opportunity to share and celebrate successes, if you choose.
How do I participate?
Group sessions don’t require any registration or prerequisites. To find out when the next session is, call Lynn at 845-473-2500 ext. 1343. Information is also listed in the Our Families Guide, United Way 411, and other popular local resources.
