If you’re homeless (or at risk), struggle with addiction or mental health issues, and need a place to go during the day, Mel’s Place is for you. You get all of the typical benefits of a day shelter—hot showers, food, company, a safe space—but also whatever help is within our power to help you get your life on track.

This support ranges from helping you apply for social services you qualify for (including getting your birth certificate), to referring you to food, housing, support, and employment opportunities. Veterans can also get specialized advice and referrals once a week.

Services:

  • Safe haven, hot food, showers
  • Referrals for housing (via affiliates) & employment
  • Mailing address & help applying for housing, food stamps, birth certificate, employment, and social services
  • Emergency support and referrals
  • MICA (support for individuals with Dual Diagnoses)

What is program like?

Mel’s Place is both a gathering place and a gateway to support. People attending Mel’s Place are usually focused on staying positive.

Our workers are on your side and ready to answer questions—they aren’t just going to send you somewhere else, they understand that in some cases, this is the last chance to get people back on their feet. If we can help by paying for your birth certificate or giving you a mailing address to receive it, we’re happy to.
