Supported Education Program

Are you attending (or about to attend) Dutchess Community College? Are you struggling with a psychiatric disability or an addiction disorder? Could you use a little extra support on campus?

Our Supported Education Program will allow you to make the most of your college experience by helping you get adjusted and connect to useful services. Achieve your educational goals, build strong relationships, find meaningful work, and stay happy and healthy throughout!

Services:

  • One-on one support from the program coordinator
  • Campus tours
  • Assistance with applications, registration, & financial aid
  • Tutoring, coping skills, and special accommodations as needed
  • Individual services tailored to your individual needs

What is the program like?

You start off by meeting one-on-one with a coordinator to discuss your situation and explore options to help you get the best experience possible out of your time at DCC. We’re here to help you succeed, whatever that take! We’ll also connect you to other staff at DCC who offer programs or service that might help.

How do I participate?

To register, you must already be enrolled in the ACCES-VR program. If you’re not, you can explore and register for that program separately. After being referred by your ACCES-VR counselor, our Supported Education Coordinator will contact you and set up an appointment.

janet, Director of Community Education
I run the MHA Library and supervise the Supported Education and Community Education programs. I link people in need of services to a variety of resources so they can investigate them to see what is a good fit. Overseeing educational programs is rewarding when I hear of people reaching their goals as they rebuild their lives. I enjoy working with my colleagues both here at MHA and with staff from other human service agencies as we collaborate on events.
