What is the program like?

This program takes place during the day in the familiar classroom setting. You pick courses to create your own schedule: options include life skills such as cooking or finances and banking, as well as wellness practices such as coping techniques and medication management. We rotate options on a regular basis based on needs and requests.

Transportation can be arranged if you don’t have your own vehicle, and professionals such as psychiatrists, nurses, therapists and social workers are available on site.

How do I participate?

You must be over 18 and have a pre-diagnosed Severe and Persistent Mental Illness. If you are curious and want to sit in on a class, feel free to drop by! All classes take place at 451 Fishkill Avenue in Beacon. You can also call Kristi at 845-473-2500 ext 1213 to set up an appointment.

Kristi Howard, LMSW, PROS Team Leader
I, Kristi Howard LMSW, started my career with MHA as a social work intern with the Case Management department in 2009. That is when I found my passion for working with adults in recovery from severe and persistent mental illness. I became the Team Leader at our Beacon Wellness Center PROS program just over two years ago. It brings me much joy to support our participants as they endeavor to advance their life situations.
