Family Support & Advocacy Services: Vet2Vet
Program Specialist, full time

Duties: Full time Program Specialist for veterans’ peer support and assistance program at Mental Health America of Dutchess County. The Program Specialist will assist the Program Manager in establishing and operating a network of peer support services for veterans of all military branches, both men and women, and their families. The Program Specialist will liaise with other services at MHA, and will be available to assist the Program Manager as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Must be a combat veteran

  • Must have served on full time active duty with an honorable discharge
  • Must have a clean driver’s license
  • Must be willing to work evenings and/or weekends as needed


  • Experience working with persons who have serious mental illness
  • Experience with the human service system of Dutchess County
  • Experience providing peer-to-peer supports and/or assistance to veterans or to persons with mental illness



Family Support & Advocacy Services: Teen Challenge & Young Adult Program
Program Assistant, part time, 25 hrs/wk

Duties: The Program Assistant will help the Program Specialist in organizing and operating the two-level Transitions Program serving teens and young adults ages 14-25 who have mental illness.  Components include weekly life skills groups, recreational activities and community service.  The Program Assistant will help the Program Specialist in the general operations of the program, including driving as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; some college preferred.  Education and/or experience working with persons with mental health issues, specifically adolescents and/or young adults.  A clean criminal record and valid driver’s license with 3 years driving experience required.


Family Support & Advocacy Services: RESPITE
Respite Program Specialist, part time, 17.5 hrs/wk

Duties: The Program Specialist will provide quality individual and/or group respite and skill building for children with social, emotional and behavioral disabilities.   The Program Specialist may also take responsibility for general program assistance.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalency required, Associate’s Degree preferred.  Knowledge of recreational activities and child development required.  Experience working with families with children with social, emotional and behavioral disabilities preferred.  Self-starting, motivated individual able to work flexible hours. Clean driving record and 3 years’ experience driving.


Multiple programs


MHADutchess is currently seeking to hire a pool of clinical and non-clinical staff  to work on a Per Diem basis for several different programs.  The Mobile Crisis Team (Master’s degree required), the Stabilization Center (minimum of 3 years’ experience working with the mental health/substance abuse population).  Other programs could be our daytime homeless shelter as well as our Young Adult/Teen Challenge programs.
